Patrick Hopkins, Founder & Principal

Patrick Hopkins founded FlowState in 2025 to give leadership teams direct access to a senior product executive when they're deciding what to build, where to invest, and what to acquire. He works as a fractional Chief Product Officer or strategic advisor and leads every engagement personally, working with PE-backed and mid-market companies in financial technology and software.

Patrick brings more than 20 years of senior leadership across financial services and life sciences, including more than a decade in product management and portfolio governance. Before FlowState, he was Vice President of Product Management & Enterprise Transformation at JPMorgan Chase, where he led a global product organization spanning the US, UK, and India, with oversight of an $11B+ portfolio.

Earlier, Patrick led Lean transformation and quality-systems modernization at Sanofi Genzyme and supported the global launch of a major biologic at Johnson & Johnson across more than 20 countries. That regulated, high-stakes background shapes his approach: rigorous, evidence-based, and grounded in what it takes to bring something to market.

He holds an MBA in Biotechnology & Health Industry Management from The Pennsylvania State University and a BBA in Finance from Temple University, and is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Selected Engagements

Fractional Chief Product Officer
Served as interim product leadership for a PE-backed wealth-management software company after its CPO departed. In seven months, cut active initiatives from 26 to 12, so the team could focus on the roadmap that actually moved the business, realigned three product teams around customer segments, and handed off to a permanent CPO. The same discipline that consolidated advisor-facing technology systems from sixteen overlapping platforms to seven at JPMorgan Chase.

Product & Platform Diligence for M&A
Led diligence on four acquisition targets for a PE-backed buyer in six weeks, ahead of investment committee review. The integration estimates changed the outcome: a lower price on one deal, a pass on another. At JPMorgan Chase, that same rigor extended to roughly a dozen acquisitions totaling approximately $300M in deal value, including a material financial issue surfaced and resolved before approval.

Portfolio Governance & OKRs
Stood up investment intake and OKR reporting across six product lines for a mid-market fintech firm in eight weeks. Funding decisions that took ten weeks now take four. FlowState built this same governance discipline at JPMorgan Chase, scaling an internal goal-tracking platform from one team's tool to a standard used across 28 product lines.

Product Strategy & AI
Applied AI to a specific product problem rather than as a standalone initiative. Ran dependency analysis across roughly 40 active initiatives at a PE-backed software company, surfacing delivery risk three to four weeks earlier than existing reporting caught it, early enough to act rather than react. The same approach applied at JPMorgan Chase to circular dependencies and external event impact across the portfolio.

Regulated-Industry Rigor
Rigor isn't new to FlowState. Earlier, at Sanofi Genzyme and Johnson & Johnson, led quality system modernization that delivered $14M in operational savings and cut recall cycle times by 45%, and coordinated regulatory readiness across more than 20 countries for a $450M biologics launch. That's the standard held for every engagement.
